Fairytales

This term we have had an amazing time learning about Fairytales

We have used our role play skills to act out a variety of fairytales including Billy Goats Gruff, Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding hood and Jack and the Beanstalk. We then used our knowledge of stories to describe a variety of characters using interesting adjectives.

We were then given a task to write stories for the children in reception based on the structure of the Gingerbread man. However, we changed the main character to a Christmas Food! We enjoyed writing about runaway christmas puddings, brussel sprouts, christmas cookies and turkies. We also designed a front cover in the style of Nick Sharrett. We then created a book to give the reception children.

Also as part of our topic we went to Sundown Adventure land. We explored Lollipoppet castle and used our senses to describe the different smells and sights that we could see.  We met different characters in their houses and then sketched them when we returned back to school.

To finish our topic, we took part in a Wow day. We tried different types of porridge and recorder our favourite in a pictogram; took a magic carpet ride to India and planted our own beanstalks. We then had a competition to make the longest beanstalk as a team.
