Wider Opportunities/First access

At William Law school the children have many opportunities to experience playing an instrument.

All Middle School children learn to play the descant recorder for two years, as part of our first access programme.

For those who wish to continue playing, all key stage 2 children are able to join the school recorder club.

In the Summer term the Year 4 have an opportunity to learn to play the clarinet (which follows on from skills learned playing the recorder), and also take part in a Samba band. This Wider Opportunities or First Access programme is supported by Peterborough Music Hub.

Year 2 also learn to play the ocarina.  Each class has a weekly lesson for one term.

Year 5 and 6 learn to play the ukulele to further develop their understanding of harmony.  Each class has a weekly lesson for one term.
