Ilnesses should be reported to the school office, or via your Parentmail account, by 8.45am where possible on the first day of the child's illness. A reason for the illness and an expected return to school date should be given.
Children suffering with diarrhoea or vomiting should not be brought back to school until they have been free of symptoms for 48 hours.
For absences a leave of request form should be completed in advance and submitted to the school, for any request during term time. If you are requesting the same leave period for more than one child, you only need to complete one form advising of all children's details that the absence relates to.
Where the absence is for a medical reason, the notification of the appointment should be shown to the office or a copy attached to the form so that it can be recorded that it has been seen.
Please note that due to Government legislation, absence during term time can no longer be permitted unless in an exceptional circumstance and at the discretion of the Headteacher. Please ensure therefore that full details of the reason for the absence requested is provided, with evidence where necessary, so that an informed decision can be made. We can only make a decision on the information that is provided to us. If a reason is not provided, the absence will be unauthorised.
If your child has persistent unauthorised absences, you could be liable for a fine of £120.00 per child per parent if paid within 28 days but reduced to £60.00 per child per parent if paid within 21 days. The fine is issued by and dealt with by the Local Authority.
